President Joe Biden got an earful from Texas Governor Greg Abbott during his recent trip to the U.S.-Mexico border. According to Abbott, he told the President, “you’re two years and about 20 billion dollars too late.”
Watch Governor Abbott explain what he told President Biden:
During their brief meeting, Abbott delivered a letter to the President explaining the current border crisis and criticizing him for not acting sooner.
“I start by telling him that he’s two years and about 20 billion dollars too late,” Abbott explained to the gathered press at El Paso International Airport in El Paso Texas. “You have a job to do, Mr. President, and that is to enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books.”
According to Abbott, the letter also details steps the Federal Government needs to take to stem the tide of illegal immigrants entering the United States.
“I outline five ways, in that letter, of what he can do right now without any new laws having to be passed,” Abbott explained.
The letter damands the Biden administration:
- Comply with the many statutes mandating that various categories of aliens “shall” be detained, and end the practice of unlawfully paroling aliens en masse.
- Stop sandbagging the implementation of the Remain-in-Mexico policy and Title 42 expulsions, and fully enforce those measures as the federal courts have ordered
you to do. - Aggressively prosecute illegal entry between ports of entry, and allow ICE to remove illegal immigrants in accordance with existing federal laws.
- Immediately resume construction of the border wall in the State of Texas, using the billions of dollars Congress has appropriated for that purpose.
- Designate the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
