Curtis Sliwa – The Rebound

This week Coach Doherty discusses leadership with Curtis Sliwa. Curtis is a lifelong American activist and the founder of the Guardian Angels, a crime prevention organization in New York City. In the late 70’s then mayor Ed Koch had to eliminate police officers on subways at night and a group of diverse men, led by Curtis wearing his trademark red beret, all versed in karate but unarmed, roamed the subways to keep them safe. Along the way Sliwa started a broadcast career for over 30 years, was targeted by the mafia in New York City, and also ran for mayor. The Guardian Angels are now in 140 cities in 14 countries serving as the largest unarmed crime prevention organization in the world. 

Scott McEwen – The Rebound

Scott McEwen lives in San Diego where he began writing while practicing law. He grew up in Oregon where he became an Eagle Scout; hiking, fishing, and hunting at every opportunity presented. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Oregon, and thereafter studied in London, England. Scott works with and provides support for several military charitable organizations, including the Seal Team Foundation. Scott has written 12 books and sold millions of copies. His book about the life of Naval SEAL Chris Kyle, American Sniper, became a film directed by Clint Eastwood starring Bradley Cooper and won many awards. 

Pat McCrory – The Rebound

In this episode, Coach talks with former North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory. Pat was the mayor of Charlotte for seven consecutive terms, making him the longest running mayor in their history. Charlotte experienced dramatic economic and developmental growth during Pat’s almost 15 years of leadership from 1995 to 2010. Pat led efforts to create major market infrastructure. With a focus on urban growth and sustainability, Pat helped bring many banking and corporate businesses to Charlotte. He also helped bring professional sports to Carolina and will be remembered as one of the most transformative figure in North Carolina history.

This week, Coach Doherty addresses the role of God and Christ in the Christmas season. He identifies areas of concern for freedom of religion for the American people and provides the liberties that require protections. Coach reveals the priorities of the new administration and which liberties have been compromised for Americans and how we can get them back.
