Former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley announced that she is running for president. Haley joins former president Donald Trump as the second major candidate to seek the Republican nomination for the 2024 election.
Haley made her announcement on Tuesday with a slickly produced campaign video. “It’s time for a new generation of leadership,” Haley tweeted.

“The Washington establishment has failed us over and over and over again. It’s time for a new generation of leadership to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border and strengthen our country, our pride and our purpose,” Haley says in the video.
Haley is a longshot candidate for the presidency. A Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday shows that just 3% of Republicans would pick Nikki Haley, while 47% of Republican primary voters would support Trump and 31% would support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
