Apparently, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has no idea what Vice President Kamala Harris has been doing since President Biden tapped her to lead the administration’s response to the border challenges in March of last year.
Jean-Pierre was asked about the Vice President’s efforts during Monday’s White House Press Briefing, and was unable to name one specific thing she’d done.

“I’m wondering if there’s any update from this side of The White House on what she’s been doing and what she’ll continue to do as we’re expecting an influx at the border,” asked one reporter during Monday’s briefing.
“You’re right, that has been her charge to work in a diplomatic way and finding the root causes of migration,” the press secretary responded. “I don’t have anything to lay out specifically on what that work looks like.”
Though the Vice President’s efforts appear to have had little impact on the border crisis, the administration has announced billions of dollars in investments for Central American nations as part of the so-called U.S. Strategy to Address the Root Causes of Migration.
Despite the promise of billions in investments, the surge in migrants across the southern border has continued, and is likely to become even worse when Title 42 is lifted on December 21st.
While Kamala Harris may have been tasked with securing the border, she has been largely absent on the issue. It’s worth nothing that just three months ago, the Vice President was telling Chuck Todd that America has “a secure border”:
