Voters in San Francisco and Los Angeles rejected elements of the radical left Tuesday when they approved a recall against a progressive District Attorney and a former Republican businessman took first place in LA’s Mayoral race.
In the Bay Area, residents voted 61% to remove Chesa Boudin as DA, while just 39% wanted him to remain in power.
“This is a movement, not a moment in history,” Boudin said. “The coalition that we built… it is broad, it is diverse, it is strong. And it is a coalition that is deeply committed to justice,” he added.
Mayor London Breed will now select his replacement.
Further south, Rick Caruso won 42% of the vote in Los Angeles, with Congresswoman Karen Bass close behind at 37%.
The two will face off in a run-off election.
