Former President Donald Trump posted an official response on Truth Social Tuesday just moments after a jury in Manhattan found him guilty of ‘Sexual Abuse’ and ‘Defamation.’
He was found ‘not liable’ for rape.
The jury awarded his accuser E. Jean Carroll $5 million in damages.
“I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHO THIS WOMAN IS. THIS VERDICT IS A DISGRACE – A CONTINUATION OF THE GREATEST WITCH HUNT OF ALL TIME!” posted Trump on social media.
Carroll, 79, claims Trump raped her at a New York Department Store some time around 1996.
“You know, facts are stubborn things, and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts in evidence. The facts in evidence made plain here that E. Jean Carroll’s story is not worthy of your belief, not even close,” said Trump’s attorney during his closing arguments. “Her story – and it’s just that, a story – is not true, she was not raped at Bergdorf Goodman’s. She was not defamed by being called out on making up that story.”
