Less than 24 hours after pleading not guilty to 34 felony charges, former President Donald Trump is lashing out at the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, calling on Republicans to “defund” the organizations.
“REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS SHOULD DEFUND THE DOJ AND FBI UNTIL THEY COME TO THEIR SENSES,” Trump wrote on Truth Social less than 24 hours after pleading not guilty to over 30 felony charges. “THE DEMOCRATS HAVE TOTALLY WEAPONIZED LAW ENFORCEMENT IN OUR COUNTRY AND ARE VICIOUSLY USING THIS ABUSE OF POWER TO INTERFERE WITH OUR ALREADY UNDER SIEGE ELECTIONS!”
The indictment against Donald Trump was unsealed on Tuesday, charging the ex-president with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. If convicted, the crimes carry a maximum penalty of 136 years in prison, although Trump is likely to face far less than that should he be convicted.
President Trump has pleaded not-guilty to all 34 counts.
