12-time All-American Swimming champion Riley Gaines was attacked at San Francisco State University on Thursday while giving a speech about protecting women’s sports. In addition to being physically assaulted, Gaines was also forced to barricade for several hours as an angry mob raged outside.
Watch the footage below:
“The prisoners are running the asylum at SFSU…I was ambushed and physically hit twice by a man,” Gaines tweeted on Thursday night. “This is proof that women need sex-protected spaces.”
In the video, taken by Gaines, a mob of activists can be seen assaulting her and hurling insults.
“You f—ing transphobic bitch — I f–ing see you!” one activist can be heard shouting.
“You crying! You f***ing crying bitch — f**k you!” screams another.
Despite the attack, Gaines remained defiant.
“Still only further assures me I’m doing something right,” the champion swimmer added. “When they want you silent, speak louder.”
