Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard is joining Fox News as a contributor, according to a report from The Hill; she has filled in on Tucker Carlson Tonight on a few occasions.
From The Hill:
Gabbard, a former Democratic representative from Hawaii, ran for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020, and has emerged as a leading critic of liberals since, campaigning with a number of Trump-backed Republicans during the recent midterm elections cycle.
The former congresswoman has made regular appearances on the network over the last several months and on Monday served as a guest host of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” the channel’s top-rated prime-time program.
In June, she appeared as a panelist on Fox’s afternoon table talk program “The Five” and occupied its seat typically reserved for Democrats and liberals.
Gabbard made waves last month by very publically denouncing her former Democratic Party, leaving them behind. Gabbard made a statement on Twitter.
“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism,” Gabbard said in an excerpt posted to Twitter.
“I believe in a government that is of the people, by the people and for the people. Unfortunately, today’s Democratic Party does not. Instead, it stands for a government that is of, by and for the powerful elite,” she continued. “I’m calling on my fellow common sense, independent-minded Democrats to join me in leaving the Democratic Party.”
