House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) announced on Thursday his intentions to issue subpoenas to members of the Biden family as part of an investigation into the first family’s alleged influence-peddling activities.
Comer made the announcement during an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” program. “This is always going to end with the Bidens coming in front of the committee,” he stated emphatically. “We are going to subpoena the family.”
Acknowledging the impending legal battles that lie ahead, Comer added, “We know that this is going to end up in court, when we subpoena the Bidens.” He further mentioned that preparations for such an eventuality are in full swing, saying, “So we’re putting together a case and I think we’ve done that very well.”
While Rep. Comer refrained from setting a precise timeline for the issuance of the subpoenas, his announcement follows closely on the heels of a revealing memo made public by the House Oversight Committee. This memo highlights financial transactions involving the Biden family and prominent overseas oligarchs. Among the notable revelations are that Russian Oligarch Yelena Baturina wired $3.5 million to a shell company associated with Hunter Biden, and Kazakhstani businessman Kenes Rakishev reportedly paid Hunter Biden $142,300 for a Porsche.
The implications of these financial ties remain to be seen, as the Committee continues its investigation and public attention sharpens on the potential intersections of political influence and financial transactions involving the Biden family.
