Kash Patel is an American attorney and former government official. He served as a US National Security Council official, senior advisor to the acting Director of National Intelligence, and chief of staff to the acting United States Secretary of Defense during the Trump presidency. A member of the Republican Party, Kash previously worked as a senior aid to congressman Devin Nunes when he chaired the house intelligence committee. He was previously a federal public defender, a federal prosecutor working on national security cases and a legal liaison to the United States Armed Forces. He played a key role in unearthing wrongdoing by the FBI and DOJ in President Trump’s Russia-gate matter. Kash was the author of the Nunes memo which proved that FISA’s were illegally and unethically secured for political motives. Kash is an accomplished author and currently has a best selling book titled government gangsters, which was just made into a movie.

This week Coach Doherty interviews Paul J. Farrell, Chair Emeritus and Founding Member of the Bobby Jones CSF. The Chiari and Syringomyelia Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2007, ultimately licensing the name of Bobby Jones in 2019 to become the Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation.

Chiari malformations adversely affect over 3 million Americans. In the short time that the Foundation has focused on outreach, they have raised over $6 million on research and awareness. There is currently no cure. Paul has dedicated much of his time and energy towards finding a cure for Chiari Syringomyelia. He is an accomplished attorney and still golfs regularly.

This week Coach Doherty interviews former Duke basketball and NBA legend Mike Gminski. Mike is a college basketball TV analyst for the ACC on CBS Sports.

He played four seasons with the Duke Blue Devils, from 1977 to 1980. He led the team in scoring during his junior and senior years. Gminski was named the ACC Rookie of the Year (tied) in 1977, first team All-ACC three years, 1978, 1979, and 1980, and ACC Player of the Year in 1979. He was also named an AP Second Team All-American in 1979 and 1980, and a UPI First Team All-American in 1979 and Second Team All-American in 1980. At the time of graduation, he was the Duke career leader in points (2,323), rebounds (1,242), and blocked shots (345). His jersey number 43 is retired by the Duke men’s basketball team. In 2002, Gminski was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary men’s basketball team as one of the 50 greatest players in Atlantic Coast Conference history.

Gminski was drafted in the first round by the New Jersey Nets of the NBA. He played for the Nets from 1980 to 1988. He went on to play with the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks. He wore jersey No 42 throughout his career and only got to wear No 43 (his Duke number) in his final 8 games with the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 10 points in his final NBA game. In 2003, Gminski, of Polish descent, was inducted into the National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame.

Gminski is in recovery from addiction and he discusses his success in the game and the booth combined with his struggle with overcoming alcoholism.

That research has been featured on the front page of top publications like New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post and resulted in multiple 60 Minutes exposés. Bruner discusses the results of his findings with Coach and describes how “Controligarchs” are assuming control of critical resources around the world.

his week, Coach Doherty talks with legendary Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany. Delany grew up in the diverse Newark/South Orange area of New Jersey. Because he was a basketball standout, he attended St Benedict’s Prep and the University of North Carolina where he went to two Final Fours with Coach Dean Smith. Delany then achieved a JD from UNC Law School to begin his professional career.

After working for the NCAA in an entry level position, Delany became the commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference for 10 years before being appointed to the largest administrative role in college sports, the commissioner of the Big Ten.

During Delany’s illustrious tenure with the Big Ten, he is recognized for several achievements including creating the Big Ten Network; securing a $6B deal with CBS sports to air men’s college basketball games; ushering Title IX into the business of college sports serving as the foundation for the current success in organized women’s sports; increasing attendance at Big Ten college football games from an avg of 58k to over 72k per game by 2005; expanding the Big Ten to include Penn State (and eventually, 3 other teams); which at the time was an unprecedented and unique business & sports competition concept.

Delany served on many NCAA advisory boards and used his influence to help establish the Bowl Championship Series. After 31 years, Jim announced his retirement and officially stepped down 1/1/20. He remains a critical thought leader for education and sports.
