AFT President Randi Weingarten bizarrely thanked herself this week for “working hard” in getting America’s schoolchildren back to the classrooms during the COVID-19 pandemic; saying her union can “make it happen.”
“We’ve done a lot of work to make schools as safe as possible. Now with vaccines and proper mitigation factors we know that schools can return to in-person in the Fall. Let’s make it happen,” posted Weingarten on Twitter.
“There is real joy about being in school,” Randi Weingarten told CBS News. “The safety protocols have really worked, but more than anything else has been the vaccines, and with all of that, that’s why we said full speed ahead for September.”
“I think we have to convince people about vaccine efficacy…” Weingarten said. “Trust has to be — it is — key to really dissipating fear.”
