Rep. Boebert: Trump Called and Told Us to ‘Knock This Off’ and Vote for McCarthy

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert revealed that former president Donald Trump called she and other anti-McCarthy Republicans, telling the group to “knock this off.” The revelation came during Boebert’s nominating speech for Florida Rep. Byron Donalds for Speaker of the House.

“Let’s stop with the campaign smears and tactics to get people to turn against us,” Boebert told the packed house chamber. “Even having my favorite president call us and tell us we need to knock this off. I think it actually needs to be reversed. The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that ‘sir, you do not have the votes and it’s time to withdraw.”

Despite former president Trump’s efforts, Kevin McCarthy failed several times to gain enough votes to win the House Speaker’s race on Wednesday.
