Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) didn’t care much for Dr. Anthony Fauci’s appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation – particularly Fauci’s claim that he “represents science.”
“[I] represent science…if you damage science, you are doing something very detrimental to society long after I leave,” Fauci says. Earlier in the interview, Fauci referenced “the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls,” and “all that other nonsense,” accusing them of spinning lies.
“Anybody who spins lies…who threatens…with all of that theatre that goes on with some of their investigations…that’s noise.”
Paul went after Fauci on Twitter.
“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. It’s astounding and alarming that a public health bureaucrat would even think to claim such a thing, especially one who has worked so hard to ignore the science of natural immunity.”
Back in March, Paul accused Fauci of political theatre for wearing two masks to a Senate hearing.
“You’ve had the vaccine and you’re wearing two masks. Isn’t that theater? Given that no scientific studies have shown significant numbers of reinfections of patients previously infected or previously vaccinated, what specific studies do you cite to argue the public should be wearing masks well into 2022?”
