Senator Elizabeth Warren lamented on social media Thursday that women unfairly hold “two-thirds of student debt” while completely ignoring the fact that women make up 60% of college attendees and often attend more expensive private institutions.
“Women owe over two-thirds of student debt. Canceling student debt would help give millions of women a fair shot at starting a business, saving for a home, and pursuing their dreams. Student debt is a gender justice issue. It’s time for @POTUS to act,” posted Warren on Twitter.
According to Georgetown University, women make up 59.5% of the student body in the United States compared to 40% of men.
