President Joe Biden is expected to tap Jeffrey Zients to succeed Ron Klain as the next White House chief of staff. Zients ran the Biden administration’s Covid-19 response and was the director of the National Economic Council during much of the Obama administration.
Zients is arguably best known for a comment made during a Covid briefing in December of 2021:
“For the unvaccinated, you’re looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families, and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm,” Zients said back in 2021.
The announcement comes a day after it was reported that President Joe Biden’s Chief of Staff Ron Klain is resign in the coming weeks. Klain’s departure would be the highest profile resignation since Biden took office two years ago.
Reports of Klain’s departure come as the Biden White House faces increased scrutiny over the discovery of more classified documents, with the latest batch of docs disclosed Saturday.
