Kentucky Senator Rand Paul released a video in which he recites a hilarious version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Paul’s take on the classic Christmas tale is a send-up of the $1.7 trillion federal spending bill that’s currently making its way through the U.S. Senate.
“The earmarks were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there,” Senator Paul reads. “The Senators were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of pork danced in their heads.”
The Senate on Wednesday delayed voting on final passage of the $1.7 trillion government spending bill, which runs more than 4,000 pages and includes $772.5 billion for non-defense discretionary programs and $858 billion in defense funding. Included in the bill is roughly $45 billion in new aid for Ukraine, $2.6 billion for US Attorneys to further prosecute cases related to the January 6th riots, $11.3 billion to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate extremist violence and domestic terrorism.
