White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre blamed Republican lawmakers for record-high prices Thursday; claiming the GOP is blocking President Biden’s “anti-inflation” legislation.
“The anti-inflation reconciliation bill the President is fighting for would do just that by empowering Medicare to negotiate down the cost of prescription drugs and save consumers and taxpayers money at the same time. Congressional Republicans oppose it tooth and nail,” posted Jean-Pierre on Twitter.
“The Republican Study Committee, which includes most House Republicans, endorses cutting Medicare and Social Sec. benefits. And Senate Republicans like Rick Scott want to put both programs on the chopping block. That’s wrong. We should strengthen them,” she explained.
