BIG LIE: Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas Claims “The Border is Secure”

Despite all evidence to the contrary, United States Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas told lawmakers on Wednesday that the U.S. border with Mexico “is secure.” Mayorkas’s claim comes just days after U.S. border officials announced a 25% jump in migrant crossings in March, and expressed concerns that an even larger influx could be on its way.

Watch Mayorkas’ testimony below:

“It is my testimony that the border is secure and that we are working every day–day and night–to increase it’s security,” Mayorkas told members of the House Homeland Security Committee. “The challenges we are experiencing at the border cannot be overstated.”

U.S. Border Patrol agents recorded over 162,000 apprehensions of migrants in the month of March, a sharp rise from the 130,000 apprehensions reported in February.

That number is expected to rise in May, when Title 42 is set to lapse. Title 42 a public health measure that grants the government broad authority to take actions to prevent the spread of diseases, including restrictions on travel and immigration.

In total, an estimated 6.3+ million illegal immigrants have crossed the border since Biden took office.
