By The FirstIn an intense exchange during a congressional hearing on Wednesday, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz presented a WhatsApp message, allegedly between Hunter Biden and an unidentified Chinese official, to FBI Director Christopher Wray. In the message, the son of President Joe Biden appeared to be threatening the official while implying his father’s involvement.

The contentious message, read aloud by Gaetz, states: “I’m sitting here with my father. I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”
“Sounds like a shakedown, doesn’t it director?” Gaetz concluded.
Despite the pointed allegation, Wray refused to comment on the specific contents of the message.
Congressman Gaetz pressed Wray, expressing his disbelief at the director’s silence. “You seem deeply uncurious about it, don’t you? Almost suspiciously uncurious. Are you protecting the Bidens?” Gaetz posed.
Wray denied the accusations firmly, stating, “Absolutely not.”
Not satisfied with Wray’s denial, Gaetz made a concluding retort that intensified the tension. “You won’t answer the question about whether or not that’s a shakedown and everybody knows why you won’t answer it. Because to the millions of people who will see this, they know it is. And your inability to acknowledge that is deeply revealing about you.”
