Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) spoke with Fox News’ Jimmy Failla about billionaire Elon Musk’s bid to buy Twitter; Jordan is a big fan of the move, saying “I hope it goes through.”
“I think this is tremendous. And finally, some pushback because for so long, the Left says, if you don’t agree with me, you’re not even allowed to speak. And if you try, we’re going to call you a racist and we’re going to cancel you. And the country has said, forget that noise. And someone with resources like Elon Musk is saying, forget that, I’m just going to try to buy you guys. I hope it goes through, and we’ll see what these people do. The fiduciary responsibility they have, the stock price is going up I think like 16, 17 bucks with what he’s doing. If they don’t do that, I mean, that’s serious. So I’m interested to see how this plays out, but I hope it goes forward and we get a place where you can actually have the First Amendment be the First Amendment.”
The Twitter board has not agreed to Musk’s proposal, instead opting to take “the poison pill,” diluting shares and making a takeover much more difficult for Musk. Last week during a TED Talk interview, Musk did confirm that he has a “plan B.”
