Prominent voices in the GOP are celebrating the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade after the bombshell majority opinion leak by Politico —but they are also calling for an investigation.
“If this report is true, this is nothing short of a massive victory for life and will save the lives of millions of innocent babies,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TXD) tweeted. “But while I continue to wait for the Supreme Court’s ultimate opinion, I am appalled by the shocking breach of trust posed by this leak.”
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) had a similar reaction.
“The Supreme Court & the DOJ must get to the bottom of this leak immediately using every investigative tool necessary. In the meantime, Roe was egregiously wrong from the beginning & I pray the Court follows the Constitution & allows the states to once again protect unborn life,” Cotton tweeted.
“Given the apparently coordinated nature of this hit on the Court, I certainly hope every Democrat Senator is ready to answer whether they saw the opinion before Politico published it, and if they know who leaker is,” Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted.
“I have no doubt that the Chief Justice will work to root out the radical activist that betrayed the sacred tradition of the court. The leaker must be immediately removed from their position and exiled from the legal community,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said.
Initial reports presumed the leak came from a clerk for one of the more liberal Justices on the court.
